REAL FOOD, HERBOLOGY, TRADITIONAL LIVING AND SAVING OUR FAMILY pt. 1

For the past several years I have been engrossing myself with as many real food bloggers, researchers, experts, books, and websites as possible. Like so many Americans, I have been unhappy with our health, diet nutrition and concerned about the foods that I put on the table.
Five years ago, after the birth of our fourth child I became extremely ill. I spent the next 4 years going to doctor after doctor, specialist after specialist and no one could provide me with a full proof answer. The diagnosis went from postpartum depression to chronic fatigue syndrome. To that was added Fibromyalgia. There were multiple tests for cancer, thyroid disorders, parasites and finally an MRI to rule out MS. The latest diagnosis is Neurally Mediated Cardiogenic Syncope. There were also several doctors who told me “it was all in my head” “there isn’t anything wrong with you”. None of them really listened. Instead they pushed on me medication after medication. I was on such a toxic dose of drugs that I could hardly function. I couldn’t take care of our children. I couldn’t even drive for more than 10 minutes without falling asleep at the wheel. When I presented this to the specialists I was told, “double your dose”. Double my dose? Are you mad? My children’s lives were in danger with every shopping trip we made. When I asked them for a treatment option that did not include drugs they looked at me with this “why are you wasting my time look” and I was informed by one such specialist that “medication is the only option”. I’d had enough. The so-called “miracle medications” when down the toilet. With no insurance coverage options for natural health, natural healing, herbologist doctors my choice was clear. I was on my own and the quest began.
I surrounding myself with herbology books, Traditional Chinese Medicine, natural detoxification, nutritional choices and putting everything in our lives under a microscope. Our environment, foods, lifestyle and daily routines were now subject for review. We have made several changes, but the path ahead is long and we have far to go. We are now in a constant state of transition. Eliminating toxins such as plastics, the microwave, highly processed foods, chemicals (cleaners, foods, air fresheners) – EVERYTHING!
My passion to rid our family of a toxic environment did not revolve around my own health, it very quickly too a back seat. The more I learned, the more I studied, the faster I become gravely concerned for what our lifestyle, the American way of life, was doing to our precious children. Our eldest daughter was diagnosed with Acute Chronic Rhinosinusitis and Eczema. Our eldest son was diagnosed with ADHD (which was later changed). Our third and fourth children were diagnosed and suffered from different forms of GI Tract issues. After several environmental and nutritional changes I can happily report that our fifth child has had no health issues.
Changes with the older children are coming, but we are not problem free. The solution to their problems via main-stream doctors came in the form of a pill bottle. Bottles and bottle and bottles. Which never fixed the problem, only masked it and in some cases created more problems. All of their medications have been stopped. Our eldest daughter has not had a major breakout for years.
